Meaningful event from MAKÜ Gerontology Department in Büğdüz Village

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Gerontology came together with elderly individuals in Büğdüz Village as part of a community-based social responsibility project. The event, held within the framework of the ÜNİDES program, aimed to support the active aging process of the elderly and increase their social participation.
Under the leadership of the Head of the Gerontology Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Sütlü, and coordinated by Community Advisor Dr. Lecturer Nurvet Büyükyörük, Dr. Lecturer Ebru Akbaş, and Dr. Lecturer Kerime Öğüt Düzen, interactive and entertaining activities were carried out with the elderly individuals.
During the event, participants both enjoyed themselves and were mentally stimulated through fun games played with ping pong balls. Colorful works emerged in the painting workshop, while physical activity was encouraged through the game of bocce. The event, planned with the joint effort of Gerontology Department students and academicians, contributed to the psycho-social development of the elderly individuals.
At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation were presented to the participants, and the event concluded with a group photo taken in memory of the day. The Head of the Gerontology Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevinç Sütlü, emphasized the importance of such field studies aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly individuals in her statement, expressing that similar events will continue in the upcoming periods.
