Our university's Faculty of Sports Sciences Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program hosted another event with high social sensitivity. The Adapted Physical Education and Sports course, conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Elif Top, was implemented as swimming training with the special students of Burdur Şehit Hakan Aktürk Special Education Vocational School, guided by undergraduate students.
The focus of the lesson, held in the swimming pool within the MAKÜ Sports Facilities, was the Freestyle Swimming Style. The lesson started with warm-up exercises and continued with the teaching of technical skills outside the pool. Then, the students had the opportunity to apply the skills they acquired in the pool. In the event, completed with kicking and arm stroke exercises, both teacher candidates and special students experienced an enjoyable and productive learning process.
This meaningful event once again demonstrated the unifying and healing power of sports, while also providing teacher candidates with valuable experience in the field of special education.
