MAKÜ Disabled Student Unit Coordination, in collaboration with the Faculty of Tourism and Burdur Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School Culinary Program, organized a pizza-making workshop for special students.
The aim of this planned event was to provide special students with both a fun and educational experience, helping them to develop their kitchen skills.
In the training held at the Faculty of Tourism Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Application Kitchen, Lecturer Muhammed Haykır and Lecturer Yunus Baygül shared all the details about pizza with the students. First, the history of pizza, its place in daily food consumption, its varieties, and the points to be considered in its preparation were explained. Then, the students took an active role in every stage, from rolling out the pizza dough to selecting the ingredients and decorating their pizzas. Fun and delicious moments were experienced during the pizza event.
Disabled Student Unit Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Top stated in her explanation; “Such events help students develop their social skills, gain self-confidence, and make new friendships. All participating students had the opportunity to taste the pizzas they made themselves and experienced the joy of sharing this moment. Seeing the happiness of our students with such events makes us happy too,” she expressed.
The event planned by the Disabled Student Unit Coordination was attended by Unit Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Top, Assistant Coordinator Dr. Lecturer Aynur Tepe, Ağlasun Vocational School Disabled Student Unit Representative Dr. Lecturer Derya Ağcadağ, from the Department of Turkish Education Dr. Lecturer Demet Gülçiçek, from the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling Dr. Lecturer Fikriye Eda Karaçul, from the Department of Education for the Mentally Disabled Research Assistant İmge Yurdabakan, and from the Culinary Program Lecturer Muhammed Haykır and Lecturer Yunus Baygül participated.
